Website Traffic Series Part 7: Putting A Blog on Your Static Website

The Website Traffic Series will try to cover all the traffic generation strategies available, so some of them might not apply to blogs necessarily. This one, for instance, is geared towards people that have static websites, like a company or business site. Even if you are a blogger, however, you might need to create a static website in the future, or to do consulting for a company that has one, so I think you could still benefit from knowing the different angles of this technique.

The Bloggers Union

Should we create a bloggers union? This idea was floating on my head, so I decided to share with everyone.

Sometime ago there were already rumors on the Internet that some bloggers on the U.S. wanted to create such a union. Their purpose, however, was completely different from what I have in mind.

Elitehost.net - What a Clueless Hosting Company

Last weekend I was doing some copyright infringement control on Daily Blog Tips, basically looking for people ripping off my content, and contacting the owners of those sites or, when their contact detail was not available, contacting the hosting company directly.

At one point I found a guy that had copied my 43 Web Design Mistakes You Should Avoid integrally. He did mention that the article was coming from Daily Blog Tips, but as you probably know, merely crediting the author does not give one the right to republish the material. There was no contact details on the site, so I identified the hosting company and contacted them.

3 Simple Secrets to Reducing Your Blogging Stress

This is a guest post by Karl Staib.

Thoughts, creativity, and writing should flow freely and without tension. As I was writing an article a few months ago I noticed the strain in my stomach, neck, and jaw. I was straining to get the thoughts out. As if tensing my muscles would actually help me focus or even create something helpful to my readers.

My writing was strained because I was uptight through the process. The tension was creating pain and I knew that I needed to fix the way I wrote my blogs. I ignored it in the past because I thought it was normal, sprinting through my thoughts until I began to stumble, hoping that after the first push of energy was over I would have something concrete to work with. And even when I ended up with a minor headache it was okay because I accomplished the work I set out to do. This cycle couldn’t continue and I needed a system.

My Top Commentators WordPress Plugin

I am glad to release the third WordPress plugin by Daily Blog Tips. My Top Commentators is a plugin that allows a blogger to discover who are the most active commentators on his blog (via the WordPress Dashboard, so other people will not see this information). You can also use different time frames for this, so you can see the top commentators:

Blogging Idol Contest: Accepting Sponsors and Applications!

You probably saw the competition between John Chow and Shoemoney, where both bloggers dueled for one month to see who could gain more RSS subscribers on that time frame. It was a fan event for the readers and fans of both bloggers, and it also was positive for the bloggers themselves because they ended up with a huge boost in the number of subscribers.

When the competition was over I thought that it would be cool to launch a similar one but at a larger scale, and that is when I start conceptualizing the idea of the Blogging Idol.

SEO for WordPress and Calculating Your Blog Value

Two interesting things that caught my attention around the blogosphere lately. The first one is a really extensive SEO guide for WordPress by Joost de Valk. Joost is a professional SEO, although you might also know him for the many WP plugins that he coded already.

Video Blog Review 3: The Boomer Chronicles

Welcome to the third video blog review on Daily Blog Tips. This is another one focused on the design and layout aspects. The Boomer Chronicles uses a very common blog template, so I am sure new bloggers will find this one useful. I think the quality of the image improved a bit on this one also.
